Flooding is one of the most common and devastating natural disasters, causing billions in property damage annually. Whether you’re a homeowner, business owner, or community planner, protecting your property with reliable flood barriers is essential. At Dam Easy, we specialize in innovative flood barriers and solutions tailored to your needs. To help you navigate your research, we’ve compiled answers to the most critical questions about flood barriers below.
Pricing & Value
How much do Dam Easy flood barriers cost? Each flood barrier panel is priced at about $1,075 USD. (You will typically need one panel per doorway or opening.) Because each opening and home is unique, we provide custom quotes. Use our online calculator or contact us for a personalized quote. Keep in mind that a barrier is an investment – a small price compared to repairing flood damage.
Why are they so expensive? Dam Easy panels use high-strength materials (reinforced ABS with stainless hardware) and a patented inflatable seal. This premium design ensures a reliable, watertight barrier. Also, consider that a barrier can prevent thousands in flood damage and even help keep your insurance premiums from rising. We do understand cost concerns, and we’re exploring dealer and distribution options to reduce costs.

Do insurance companies offer discounts? Installing flood barriers can demonstrate that you’re proactive about flood protection. Our products “protect the value of your home and possessions and stop your insurance premium from rising.” That said, insurance rules vary. We recommend asking your insurance provider about any flood protection credits or discounts they offer when you install a system like Dam Easy.
Performance & Limitations
Do these barriers really work? Yes – when used as directed, Dam Easy Flood Barriers form a solid, inflatable seal around your doorway, keeping out floodwater. The unique patented pneumatic pump seal inflates a tube around the panel’s edges for a watertight fit. Customers in past storms have reported that properly installed barriers prevented water intrusion.
However, it’s important to understand limits: each panel is 720 mm (28 inches) tall. Water above that height will overflow. Also, barriers only seal around the doorway: water can still enter your home through cracks, wall vents or sewer drains. The barrier does not waterproof your entire wall or foundation. We recommend using complementary accessories (see below) for wall vents and drains. For extreme flooding (e.g. water higher than 2+ feet), consider a combination of barriers plus other measures like pumps or moving valuables. What if water goes over or under the barrier? Our panels are a moderate-flood solution. If water exceeds the 720 mm height, it will indeed flow over the top. They cannot be stacked vertically (the top handles prevent safe stacking). Likewise, water from beneath (e.g. through cracks or weep holes) can seep in. To address these issues, you can install flood-proof vents or seal wall penetrations: Dam Easy offers Smart Flood Vents, Airbrick Covers, and Non-Return Valves to help block basement weep holes and pipes. In practice, these barriers are best for doorways, garages and entrances – for full-house protection in severe floods, you may need permanent flood walls or to elevate utilities.
Do they replace sandbags? Yes – our barriers are designed as a cleaner, reusable alternative to sandbags. They fit the doorway and inflate a seal, whereas sandbags are messy and time-consuming. However, remember that water finds a way – no barrier is 100% foolproof if used alone. Many customers use Dam Easy panels with improved drainage and accessories for the best protection.

Installation & Setup
How do I install the flood barrier? Installation is very quick and simple – no tools needed:
You slide the panel into your door frame
Extend the side wings, and
Pump the built-in inflation bulb to seal the tube
It takes under 5 minutes for one doorway.
Pro Tip: clean the threshold first, then use the reverse button on the handle to retract the wings against the frame, and pump the seal until firm.)
Check out our official YouTube channel with video guides to walk you through each step.
Can barriers be used with different door types? Yes. Our panels fit most standard doors and garage entrances. They adjust from 780 mm to 1100 mm wide , so one panel covers a single-door or small double opening. If your opening is wider, simply combine multiple panels with extension poles (a metal pole that fills the gap between panels).
For outward-swinging doors, the barrier is installed from the exterior. The barrier’s seal goes along the bottom and sides of the panel, protecting up to 28 in high.
Where can I see a demo or get help measuring? You can watch our installation videos or use the Calculator to estimate how many panels and poles you’ll need.
If you prefer a personal touch, we can put you in touch with a local dealer or installer (where available) who can measure your site. To get a quote or schedule a consultation, please Contact Us and share your opening dimensions.
Maintenance & Accessories
What maintenance is required? Very little. The main maintenance item is the inflatable seal. It should last many years if kept clean and dry after use. Check it annually: if it shows wear or leaks, you can purchase a replacement seal kit. Other than that, rinse off any sand or debris and store the barrier upright in a dry place until needed again.
What about wall vents, drains, or foundation cracks? Dam Easy barriers stop water at the doorway, but water can still enter through other paths. We recommend using our accessories:
Non-Return Valve: prevents floodwater from backing up through plumbing pipes.
Smart Flood Vent and Anti-Flood Airbrick: close off basement weep holes and vents. These cover your brick air bricks and let you seal wall vents before flooding.
By combining the door barrier with these products, you significantly reduce other entry points. (For example, closing weep holes during a storm can mean the difference between minor seepage and a flooded basement.)
All accessories are listed on our Accessories Page.
